Shaun McBride

Shaun McBride's focus is training reined cow horses, reiners and cutters.

Training Philosophy
Shaun believes a horse should be broke, have a job and do it's job correctly. He also believes it needs to be fun for the rider and the horse. On cattle, he wants a horse to get to the point where they can think on their own and not rely on the rider. This also keeps the horse from becoming too "mechanical" in the cow work. A horse that has the responsibility of making his own decisions will also make fewer mistakes. Shaun doesn't have a cookie cutter approach to training. Each horse is an individual and is on it's own program. Shaun will want to know what you want out of your horse. When it comes time to show, Shaun will make sure you are prepared and will haul you to shows where you can be successful.

He will also be upfront with you. If he believes that he will not be able to get your horse to do what you need, Shaun will tell you so you aren't wasting your time and money.

Shaun has been a professional horse trainer since 1999, starting out as an assistant trainer. In the fall of 2006, he started his own cow horse training program for outside horses. He has trained NRCHA and NRHA money earners as well as AQHA point earners. He is a member of the AQHA, APHA, NRCHA, NRHA and NCHA.

Shaun is assisted by two very talented hands. Leighann Bowen is Shaun's assistant and has been with us since 2008. She is an excellent and quiet hand. For our colt starting needs, we searched a long time for someone good enough to start colts for us, and in our opinion, there is no one better at putting the first 30 days on a colt than Noah Muntz. He puts an amazing foundation on a young horse that is easy to build on.

Shaun and his wife Carrie have been married since 2001 and moved to Mount Sterling, Ohio in 2002. Carrie has ridden everything from hunters to reiners but her passion became riding cow horses once she took her first one down the fence. Carrie started the Ohio Reined Cow Horse Association in 2008.
